    It is much easier to dig and desperate in spring or early summer

    Any time but winter if you live in a cold climate. Hosta is very healthy but I got rid of it because of snails eating holes in the leaves and replaced hosta with loriope.

    You should divide them in spring or early fall when the ground is warm but not hot. Make sure you water thoroughly immediately after they are divided and replanted so the roots don't burn up.

    I usually divide mine in the spring. They will be smaller for that season but grow to be just as beautiful as the rest
