I prune in late February or early March, but some prune in late Fall. It might depend on where you leave. Save some of those cuttings. Many of them root easily.Helpful Reply -

depends if you like a billion baby hibisci. prune them as soon as the flowers die if you dont want weed trees everywhere. if you want it to spread and fill in an entire meadow, prune in the spring as soon as you see green buds and cut off everything that has no green and saw off any animal damaged branch.Helpful Reply -
