Most hostas grow best in shaded areas.. I use miracle grow once a month just for a boost.
Hostas do well in shade, but can handle some sun. I do have some hosta that are in quite a bit of sun, but you'd have to ask which varieties do well with more sun at a garden center (not a big box store garden area). Under trees are a great place for hosta. I fertilize with coffee grounds and some manure around the roots every year. They are quite easy, and don't need a lot of maintenance.
Hostas thrive in the shade but can take some sun. Here is a source for Hosta Care

Not in direct sun all day. Probably little morning sun and afternoon shade would be perfect.
I have not found a area that will not grow a hosta yet they are great and hearty
Very partial sun will be okay, but they prefer shade, like others mentioned.
Thanks all
