This has several ideas on avoiding biting insects. Also has an easy to make "trap" to draw their attention away from you. As to seeds; many home stores have seeds stocked as well as small plants. Online there are several companies; best to search for seed catalogs. Top repellents are lavender and anything lemon scented. Also garlic. I also hear Avon's Skin so Soft is a good repellent.
might want to google it for your area
Mint & lemongrass are a couple of plants that might help with those insects. The seeds should be pretty easy to find online if you Google it.
