When tomato plants mature, their leaves naturally start browning out. Your initial reaction may be to water the plant more because it appears to be drying out. Don't water it more, just let the plant run its course.

I keep trying to tell my husband that, but he still freaks out the number of leaves that are falling off from the bottom up and how straggly it is starting to look(it is in a pot and was more mature than the ones I put in the garden).
