Hello! Yes, sometimes the yellow leaves can mean more than one thing. If you have already addressed the possibility of overwatering, then you might want to repot into a larger vessel. Incorporate some new potting soil at that time and think about applying some fertilizer also — just a bit of Miracle Gro on a weekly basis can improve the health of your plants.
Did you move them to another spot? Did you bring them inside after having them outside for awhile? Either of these will make plant drop their leaves after turning yellow. If neither of these, I am thinking too much water. Do you have a drainage hole in the bottom of your pot? If so, don't let the plant sit in water. If no hole, then use less water.
Could be improper watering or insects. Were they outside for the summer months? Were they re-potted?Check for any signs of webbing or stickiness.
You didn't say what the plants are. If you do know what they are, look them up to see what the water, light and fertilizer requirements are. You could get a moisture meter to make sure you ae not over or under watering.
Lighting may be your problem.
