Will Lilac bushes grow in Texas?

    Lilacs dont really do well in most of Texas, because we do not have cold enough winters and our summers are too hot. Plant a Vitex tree instead. It thrives here, growing wild in ditches. Beautiful purple or white blooms, and makes a large tree. Google it and you will see some great pics. Keep it well watered the first season, after that no special care needed, just water if droopy. Vitex is also known as Texas Lilac and Chaste Tree. Good luck!

    lilacs need to go dormant so unless you are in the extreme north of Texas and it freezes I would say your chances are null
