Zone 5 weed or flower?

It kind of looks like a wild viola leaf. It's a pretty shade loving plant. I live in Zone 9 though and am not sure whether they grow in your neck of the woods.

It almost looks like a weed I get that grows huge. It looks like wild rhubarb if it is the same thing. I have no idea what it is really called. I have seen leaves in the neighbors yard that are about 18 inches wide. It comes up all over, even in the areas that get sun most of the day. They have huge roots if you let them grow. I have never seen flowers on it. Look at the stems and see if it looks like rhubarb stalks. If it is, pull it, you don't want it.

Yes, that was my first guess (wild viola/violet).

Could be Violets or Honesty - I also have some growing and look forward to seeing what they turn out to be myself.

It is a ground cover but it will take over your yard if your not careful. It needs to be groomed and controlled if you keep it. I have kept it in one section of my yard but it tries to spread throughout the neighborhood. When mature it physically can choke out EVERYTHING it you don't remove the thick root system it forms, almost bony structures covering the ground.

Its not wild viola the roots don't grow deep but spread all over the ground and just under the dirt. I just pulled about 2 bushels of it it up yesterday that grows under my hostas and my larger flowers.My neighbor calls it creep weed because it spreads all under the grass and flowers and creeps everywhere lol

To me it looks like the start of a buffalo burr plant. It is a weed and has roots that go on forever. Get some weed killer on it before it really gets going. They spread and get awful burrs that stick to your clothing or you pets hair.

Fuzzy leaf? May be burdock. Had them in Mich. Get big with big burrs.

Weed killer would only hurt the hosta if some was applied to that too. Weed killer and insecticides are what the farmers need to use so that they can grow the food you eat in the amounts of what it takes to actually have enough grain without buying or importing it. Please also keep in mind that humans also do many other things to harm the environment. Hair and household products, smoking, littering, not recycling, the list goes on. Careful use of herbicides and insecticides do much less damage to the environment than you would think. Next time you put a piece of food in your mouth please keep in mind that it is farmers like us that grow your food.
