May has arrived and me & the kids are jump starting our small garden with growing some cherry tomatoes - wish us luck!
To speed things up I creaded this mini indoor green house out of some very simple items. Hopefully in a short while we will be able to replant these babies outside on our balcony!

To create a mini green house you need:
27 paper straws
Plastic wrap
Tape and glue

Start by creating the base. Glue 6 straws together according to the picture above.

Next step is building the walls. For this you need another 6 straws. Make sure to use a glue gun or Quick dry superglue. Hold the straws in place until the can stand without falling. The key here is to make them stand as straight as possible. Wait until everything is dry.

Now its time for the roof. Glue another 6 straws ontop of the straws standing up. Attach a 7th straw in the middle section, this will make the greenhouse more stable. Wait until everything is dry.

Glue 2 straws together to form a V-shape upside down and glue these onto the roof base. Repeat two more times.
Finish off by attaching the last 2 straws at the top of the house. Wait until everything is dry.

Now its time to dress it with plastic wrap to get the look and effect of a greenhouse. You might want to add small pieces of tape here and there to keep the plastic in place.

I also chose to decorate the green house with a small banner - it reads "tomayto tomahto"! :-)

We decided to go for Cherry tomatoes, but of course you can plant anything you want.

You dont need green fingers, experience or even a large outdoor garden for this Project which is why I like this idea so much.

We filled paper cake liners with garden soil mix, sliced up a few tomatoes and placed them ontop.

Make sure to give the plants in your greenhouse enough sunlight and water every day.

Happy small gardening from naomile!
