Poplars are a good choice, and less troublesome than cottonwoods. Know your yard size and available distance from house/walkways/driveway before purchasing.
Research your local area as to size, color and conditions for the trees you need. That way, you should know what would be the best to survive you weather and soil conditions.
Hi Debbie. The fastest I know is maple. .i have planted several and they grow real fast. .there's several types . One is red maple red leaves others are just green leaves. .make great shade trees .check your internet before buying. .Good luck .
Hi, Deb,
Should you plant a maple, avoid "silver maples", which are notorious for falling over during storms...if you have that problem.
Also, due to their long roots, plant a maple no closer than 25' from your home, and away from water lines and walkways, as well.
