It should survive winter if planted, it does in MN. In a container it would have to be inside as the containers will freeze all the way down and kill the roots. You could try planting the container.

Are you talking about clerodendron vine? May have spelled wrong. It is called bleeding heart too. If this is what you have it will have to be taken in for winter. I guess basement would be fine. I don't have a basement so my tropicals come in near a window and try not to overwater till time to go back outside.

I have what we call a bleeding heart plant that comes in pink & white and all white. It looks like a fragile bushy plant but survives winter in Anchorage, Alaska planted outside in the ground. If you want to try it outside overwinter; I would take it out of the pot, divide the plant in half putting half outside and the other half back in the pot. Look up bleeding heart on line to see pictures and probably how to grow and hardiness.
