Hi. I have some large potted houseplants that I want to move.

where is your location? Transplanting should be done in the fall or spring to eliviate additional street.

If the plants are meaningful to you I would say hire a professional. I've tried large plants and small trees with not much success.

Wow, those are some happy plants! I would certainly want to take too. How far are we talking about? A days drive or clear across the country? If it were me, I would visit the fanciest nursery in town and ask for advice as they ship plants all the time. I would water well before the trip, wrap up in paper, not plastic and lay down in the back of a truck and cover with blankets. Make sure to tie everything well, stuff whips around on interstates and can shred things to bits in no time flat. Travel very early morning or late afternoon to avoid heat of the day and added stress to the plants. Good luck! And please keep us posted! Want to know how you actually moved them. ☺🌵

Hello Darice, Try wrapping a blanket or two around them. You can secure them with bungee cords. You should be able to move them using a dolly. Hope this helps you. Good luck with your new home.

Did I read correctly that these are potted plants? If so, you could probably move them in a pick up truck. Maybe slide the potted side in towards the cab and then rest the upper posts on the tailgate. I'd cushion the potted part to prevent it from rolling around and attach some flags to end posts sticking out off the truck.

Moving from Chicago to Florida.

I'm concerned the Philadendron may break it's stems/ leaves. It's about 7 feet tall and 8 feet wide. Both the 8 foot Yucca and the Philadendron are potyed, and will stay as potted houseplants.

Rent a U-Haul, load with your belongings and attach your vehicle behind. The U-Hauls come in various sizes. Do not over water the plants, just moisten the soil and cover the pot with a plastic bag. The plants will be enclosed for the days you are traveling, but they will survive. Add support with the boxes you are moving to hold in place. Lay down or standup depending on U-Haul size.
