How can i keep grass from growing in my flower beds?

It seems like I am constantly getting grass in my flower beds. Using landscape fabric was a bad choice, because after a couple of years, grass and weeds grow down through the fabric. Will preen kill my flowers? Help!

Preen prevents germination of any seed... like weeds... it won't interfere with established plants you put there.

    Hi BVC,

Preen is a preemergent, which means that once all the weeds are out it is supposed to prevent future weed seeds from growing. From my experience, you have to get every tiny weed root out of the dirt or it won't work. Click on the link below for some interesting information and one solution. Another solution is to spend some time in your garden pouring on some vinegar. (with a little dishwashing detergent in it so that it will stick to the plants). If you see a solution that uses salt, be very careful using that solution. Salt kills the dirt so nothing will grow, which also means it could inhibit plants that you want to grow. The salt solution is better with cracks in driveways and sidewalks. Wishing you the best.
