How do I take care of succulents?

How often should I water them? How do I transplant them? Do they need vitamins? special dirt? My son have me a. Tom of them.

I am in zone 9 and mine live outside year round in pots and in ground. It gets REALLY hot here in summer and require more water than what is generally recommended. The "winter" (if you can call it that), season here is when they grow the most for me. Very easy care and big bang for your buck. I literally do very little and they grow like weeds.

Oh sure Naomi, just brag about you nice weather. lol. I live in ohio and I have my aloe vera on a warm heating pad and extra light. If I don't it starts to die in the winter. I let the soil go completely dry before I water it. It does not like long periods with soggy soil. I ended up putting it in a clear glass container so that I could tell how much water it needs. I don't give it any vitamins or anything, just water and light and warmth. Hope this helps a little.

  ☺ Trust me Rebecca, you don't want to be here in summer when it 100°+ for months on end. And at night if it drops to a bone chilling 80° you are grateful. If you are lucky enough to live near the coast it is nice, but the rest of us melt . . . Every area has its pros and cons . . . We have had a few "cool" days and people are bundled up like they are going on an Antarctic expedition . . . I just laugh and laugh. And walk around in a summer sun dress and flip flops when it is 55° out.

  I also live in Zone 9. Santa Clara Valley {Sunnyvale) we don't get. to 90 unless we are having a heat wave. My succulents also do much better in the winter. They are blooming now.
