Hi Carol: When the tree gets about 3 feet tall, root bound or in the way, plant it in the spring. Dig a hole twice the size of the pot it's in and just as deep. Make sure the bottom and sides of the hole are loose so that the roots aren't hitting a stone wall when trying to grow. Put some water in the hole, lift the tree out of it's pot, loosen the dirt around the roots and plant. You may want to plant the tree about 2 inches deeper than it was in the pot so that when you water, the water won't run off and away from the tree. If you have 2 trees, that would be great for cross pollination and, everything needs a friend:) Good luck
