I'm not sure what you're asking , but here's how I got past my own black thumb. I bought a beautiful plant, already blooming , in a pretty pot. I got it from a garden center and before I left I politely grilled the owner on the care and upkeep : feeding , watering , lighting . Eventually , I was able to transplant it to a larger pot. I should mention that I'm a huge fan of Miracle-Gro potting soil, I think it saved the plant. I just scooped everything from the smaller pot into the larger one and added more potting soil, pressed it firmly in , watered it, and prayed .

When re-potted plants always use the next size pot.Place a little soil in the bottom, insert the plant making sure it is not to deep, gradually add the soil turning the pot, fill until the soil is at the top and press until all the air is out.
