What flowers have you tried? Are there drainage holes in the planter?

Hi Janet. Here is a picture of cedar planter. Right now I just have impatientS in it as it is the first year. I guess it gets more sun here than I thought. I might try some moss roses to see how they do....any other suggestions???

I tend to mix perennials and annuals in my front containers where I get the afternoon sun. What I have had the best luck with in a mix of bougainvillea, purslane, and ivy. Since the bougainvillea and purslane love the sun and not a lot of water I tend to water every 2-3 days mainly around the ivy (my planter is shallow). If you water too much the leaves of the bougainvillea will fall off. Your planter has to be well drained. The purslane is a succulent similar to portulaca with pretty pink, yellow, or coral flowers, and often used in flower beds. I have to say that I am a novice and know there are others with more expert advice, but this is what worked for me living in the south with high humidity. Hope this helps.

Add some highlighted color with some lime green sweet potato vine in the bottom, and Bidens which is a small yellow flower with a nice textured small leave that spreads

I had a wood plant...I had to line the basket with plastic and a few drainage holes...so the plants would live through the summer....the green mold was killing the plants...I power washed the planted every year and stained it but still eventually the moss would creep in. I now have it on the sunnier side of my porch which helps...
