My personal Preference is for Miracle Grow... but it can get expensive in large quantities. Check with your local nursery and see if they sell amended garden soil (has the manure already in it) in bulk.. they may deliver and the cost will be more reasonable.

Note: we have large garden boxes and we bought the Kellog's garden soil form Lowe's .... it is TERRIBLE... lots of junk in the soil... and the plants did not do well.... this year I will remove most of it and replace with the "fertilizer mulch " from our local nursery.

I have found that using potting soil works well. I usually add peat moss to it no matter what brand it is. I have in the past when I knew I didn't have enough potting soil to finish a job, I put 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 potting soil and 1/3 top soil and that stretched it out pretty well for what I needed. If it didn't look quite right I would add some extra peat moss to lighten it up a little more. Find a potting soil that you like that doesn't have too much branches, clay clumps, extra and use it. It is a trial and error thing. I have found that the really cheap stuff has an awful lot of junk in it and needs more amending that the others don't have as much of. I like the Miracle Grow the best, but can't always afford as much as I have to use each spring when I plant.
