I’m having trouble getting my grass seed to grow

A semi pulling a modular home drove through my yard this past winter. It made ruts at least 4 inches deep across my whole yard. I’ve spent the summer filling in the ruts, but the yard is still very unsmooth. It was costing me a fortune for dirt. I planted seed that grew in some places and not in others. I just finished putting a little more loose soil down, more seed, then sprinkled it with more soil and wet it. I have to buy more seed and dirt tomorrow to finish it. How many times a day should I water it? Thank you!

Honestly I'd ask them to come back and fix it. But if doing it yourself you'll want to get it mushy wet, use one of the water filled barrel rollers to flatten it. Seed it and water daily.

Shouldn't the trucking company/driver be paying for these repairs or whoever hired them to pull the home. I would take them to small claims court if they won't pay up.
Hello Kathy, we are having the same lawn establishement seeding trouble too, as summers assault is not the best time for young grass sprouts to establish.
Our turf situation -we are found that core aeration is extremely effective to help break up the soil and get better results from seeding. It may even assist with the better keveling of your surface.
We had a quote from a local landscaper to aerate and seed for >$700 so we ended up buying the aerator the tractor can tow for $200. We intend to use it twice a year until full recovery and renovation of the turf is achieved.
Additionally the walk behind aeraror units can be rented from hardware stores and tool rental companies. Its most important to do this in the fall and besides the companion seeding the expert turf lecturer in my master gardeners class suggested adding an inch or so of compost as top dressing.
PS dont forget to flag mark your utility- cable -invisible fence wires at aeration time.
Your local Cooperative extension is staffed by volunteer master gardeners waiting to assist you —consider giving them a call (or visit) they may have local information unique to your region to share experiences and possible treatment about your solving your soil turf situation.
I would go to the company that moved the modular home over your property and ask them to fix it. I would think that they should be responsible for damage that they caused. That is what they insurance for.
Another possibility is your homeowner's insurance. They can go after the person who caused the damage. If that won't work for you, documenting the damage and going after the company who caused it may be your best recourse. Even utility companies who have right-of-way are responsible for damages.
