You can use it on the bottom of the pots ,I do it every year for flowers to elevate the cost

I would remove some of the soil out of the pots. Mix in some peat moss and compost in the pots then mix as much soil to bring it to the level you want.

Yes,you can, but I would add some Miracle grow in the water once every ten days or so. We have done this and had good success. Hope you have a great harvest again this year!

I have "reused" potting soil especially in my larger pots. It gets expensive to replace every year. But as William stated you might want to do a few additives as long as you had a success with the ones you had last growing season.

I’ve had water issues in my basement....I’ve been using last yrs bagged soil to berm up the basement walls.

The soil can be reused... just add some rotted manure or compost and mix it in well.... An FYI for next year... add a big mound of rotted manure to the top of the pot in the fall after the plants are done for the year... let it set all winter and leach into the soil... and then mix into the soil in the spring when you are ready to plant.

another fyi..... Miracle Grow is really good to help get young plants growing... but too much too often can get them too focused on growth and not on making "fruit"

By reusing potting soil you are putting plants in soil that has had the nutrients used to some extent. I have reused potting soil. Just add new soil to it about 50/50. You might consider sprinkling used coffee or tea grounds on top of the soil and finely crushed egge shells that have been washed and cooked in a 200 degree oven for about 15 minutes. But go easy on the egg shells because too much calcium can cause nutrient lock out.

It will be better to replace the soil because the nutrients will have been mixed by last year's growth. Old soil can become compacted and inhibit good root growth that needs proper aeration. Put the old soil in a section of your garden where it will break down naturally.

Yes you can reuse potting soil, but I would amend it with some composts to make it richer.

Over a season, the soil usually sinks enough to require new soil. I usually dump the old soil in a plastic bag, clean up the pot, redo the drainage, if needed, shake up the old soil, pour it back into the pot, then add new potting soil. I replant good plants, and pot new plants. It’s a system that works for me. ☺️
