Raised garden beds?

Some one in my neighborhood actually has raised beds on legs in their back yard. I can see them as I drive by the corner lot on the way out of the neighborhood. It looks like she used 2x4's for the legs, but I would have gone bigger that to support it. It looks like possible 1 or 2x6 to surround the bed, but to me I think taller than that would be better for the veggie plants to let them have more root room. Perhaps that is an idea for you. You could make it taller without a lot of wasted space trying to get it to a comfortable and workable height.

You can go to any large equipment company, power companies that sell appliances and hvac equipment like a/c's, heat pumps, etc. Those things usually come in decent size crates. line them with landscape fabric, fill with dirt and plant. Instant raised bed. Don't buy wood to make them. You can treat the wood and seal with Thompsons water sealer if you need to before you start. If you can find something that is non-toxic to seal with, even better. You will probably need a truck to transport them. Ask the company if they have someone to deliver it to you.

I bought a kit for my first raised garden bed. For my next two I simply used 2 x 12 x 8 ft lumber and l brackets, cut the lumber to the size I wanted (or you could have the store do that), and connected them with L brackets on the inside and outside for stability. Filled with garden soil and planted. They've worked out great and were relatively cheap and super easy to do.
