Will a red banana tree grow back if cut down to the stump?
After winter my red banana tree was cut down because of the winter freeze. Just abiut a foot and a half tall stump remains. Will it grow back or should I remove it?
Rent a grinder and grind it down, wait for fall and burn it out using a barrel with no bottom and a screen on top if not close to house, use a chemical stump killer like Stump Killer, or drill holes in it and periodically salt it with coarse salt.
there are chemical equivalents to termites. You drill large holes in the stump, fill the holes with the powder, it encourages it to rot away. I don’t recommend trying to burn it out. You might be able to take a chain and cut out chunks of the stump.

I have used a reciprocal saw and and an electric saw to cut down stumps. It takes time but it works.
Rent a stump grinder.
Drill large hole in the stump. Buy some Stump Rot at the hardware store and mix with water into each hole. this will take some time - as in a year or so- but it works well and will not hurt the surrounding ground.
