The first thing you need to do is look up your planting zone and then visit your local nursery for different plants. The sun exposure should be listed on each one. Be sure and put in some perennials...plants that come back every year or live year round (depending of the amount of freezing weather you get)...they come in various colors of green, maroon, etc., and then add some annuals for color.
