Succulents like well drained soil, i.e. lots of sand and even gravel so they are not sitting in water.
I add perlite to my potting soil to keep it lighter and sand for succulents.
If in a pot, I put gravel in the bottom then mix gravel with the potting soil.
If in the ground, make sure it will drain.
I used potting soil and a little sand mixed in they don’t like water at all very little once every two weeks
They need soil that is well draining, sand and perlite will help with that.
There are pre-mixed soil bags if you aren’t sure about mixing yourself.
