What water plants is best for a small container pond ?

I live in the south, so heat or sun is a issue. I also have 8 little goldfish in the container. Thanks

You don't say how big your pond is. Most water lilies are probably small enough to shade the water and provide hiding space and oxygen for your fish. Just keep the pads trimmed if you have too many.
