Why isn’t my winter grass dead yet (in Phoenix)?

I bought my home in December and it had a lush beautiful winter lawn. About a month ago I decreased the watering schedule to begin to kill off the winter grass and bring back the Bermuda. The backyard died completely and the front yard looked dead about 2 weeks later. I then aerated and fertilized both lawns. The back yard Bermuda is coming in nice and thick but the front yard is 90% winter grass again (and thriving) with a few dead spots. It’s been over 90 degrees for several weeks if not months and over 100 for a week straight but the grass is still hanging on. Any idea what I can or should do?
