Planning A Wine and Rose Tour
A garden is a gathering place. A garden can help us build relationships in our neighborhoods and in our communities. I realized most of my roses were 'behind the fence.' They were so beautiful I wanted to share that beauty with my neighbors. When I planted roses "outside my fence" people from all over town stopped to visit with me about the roses. Rather than just look at your gardens, make them a total experience and build relationships with friends, family and your community. During rose blooming season which can be from spring to late fall we often had "Wine and Rose Tours." Impromptu and fun, grab a beverage of choice, ice tea and lemonade for the kids, a few appetizers and invite friends and neighbors to tour the rose garden when the work day is done.

The Illinois rose gardens have been added in stages. The roses next to the tan siding are all floribundas, the extended gardens are hybrid teas.
