Planning A Wine and Rose Tour

A garden is a gathering place. A garden can help us build relationships in our neighborhoods and in our communities. I realized most of my roses were 'behind the fence.' They were so beautiful I wanted to share that beauty with my neighbors. When I planted roses "outside my fence" people from all over town stopped to visit with me about the roses. Rather than just look at your gardens, make them a total experience and build relationships with friends, family and your community. During rose blooming season which can be from spring to late fall we often had "Wine and Rose Tours." Impromptu and fun, grab a beverage of choice, ice tea and lemonade for the kids, a few appetizers and invite friends and neighbors to tour the rose garden when the work day is done.

A Rose Garden is Meant to Be Shared.
'Love Song' #WeeksRoses Hybridizer Carruth-13
Folks love Lavender Roses and this one is a heart stopper. I put it in my book, "Four Seasons of Roses"
Topsy Turvy Isn't this the cutest thing
You can also plant roses in containers for added color on patios.
Hybrid teas and floribunda garden view
The Illinois rose gardens have been added in stages. The roses next to the tan siding are all floribundas, the extended gardens are hybrid teas.
'Rainbow Sorbet'
'Rainbow Sorbet' is one of my all time favorites and truly looks like the colors of the rainbow.
Stormy Weather, Large Flowered Climber
Folks love purple roses and this is a hardy climbing rose.
'Iceberg' view of the garden
'Iceberg' is a white very hardy floribunda that lights up the garden at night
'Wine & Rose' Tour, a Mimosa at sunset
You don't even have to wash off the dirt from your day of gardening. This is me in my butterfly swing. :)
Dancing is encouraged at Rose Tours
Kids love for everyone to get together. Remember a garden is a gathering place. And this is how you do a 'Wine and Rose' Tour.

In a garden so lovely, it's probably hard to get the guests to go home!
