A short tutorial on how to make a potted succulent garden, great for small spaces and balconies.
First thing I did was grab a wide mouthed shallow pot and a bunch of mini succulents. The pot should have holes in the bottom for drainage. When I found this one it didn’t but they guy at the nursery graciously drilled three holes for me. Make sure to get a variety of styles and heights to keep it interesting.
I filled the pot with soil, just under the top.
I squeezed each succulent a bit at the base to loosen it. Be very careful not to accidentally stab your other hand in the process, as I did a few times. Break up the roots a bit and plant them in a small hole, leaving a few inches between each one.
I made sure to alternate different heights and styles.
Here’s the finished product! I would like to add some small stones to the top, but for now I like the look of the exposed dirt. Watering will depend on where you live. I live in a very hot climate so I’ll probably end up watering every two days or so. An easy way to put your pinky in the soil up to about the first knuckle. If it’s dry you need to water it. Enjoy!
