Can you can tomatoes with the skins left on?

Is there a reason tomatoes are skinned when canning? I would like to leave then in tackt.

Idon’t know much, but I always buy canned Italian tomatoes with skins.

Yes you can but the skin is tough and is almost like leather to chew. Take the extra few minutes to slip the skins and your product will be pleasing to you
Most of the time tomato skins can be very tough and hard to swallow-especially after being cooked.
The only time we keep the skins on the tomatoes is when we dehydrate them. They are not good if you can them with the skins. So sorry.
