How can we keep the squirrels from eating our ripening tomatoes?

    hi,kate. there is a product called Liquid Fence. rabbits no longer eat everything. i swear by it. give it a try.

    If you are using cages, my father used to hang painted wood balls on the tomato cages to keep birds from eating the tomatoes. I don't know if that would fool squirrels, but you could try it.

    Sprinkle the ground around the tomatoes liberally with the cheapest red pepper or chili pepper you can find. They get it on their paws and then in their mouth and they hate it. You can also add the pepper or red chili pepper flakes to bird seed to keep the squirrels out of your bird feeders. Doesn't hurt the birds.

    Hi if you get a good answer do let me know...WHY? you might ask well it because we have one yes one very smart squirrel that is eating my MANGOS. our is really good and this is the first year the tree has given fruit. it started 8 years ago from a seed. and the squirrels were not in our area nor the green iguanas' have migrated west. West Boca here in south east Florida. I wont let my husband shoot it. He or she is smart and so cute. good luck.
