Tomatoes plants need
For healthy growth, tomato plants require at least 8 hours of direct sunlight a day. However, the hours of sunlight do not need to be consecutive. This means that tomatoes can be grown successfully in both morning and afternoon sun as long as the number of hours adds up to 8 or more.
6-8 hours of sun
Tomatoes need full sun - 8 hours of it. They will produce flowers all season long, but the flowers will not fruit if the temperature goes over 90'. For a better, larger yield, remember to pinch off the trailing ends and keep the plant bushier as opposed to leggier. Oh, and watch for those giant green tomato hornworms! Yank 'em off and squish them!
6 hours a day
All you can give it if temperatures are not extremely hot, The heat may make tomato plants go dormant for a while.
6 to 8 hours/day
