What are the best veggies to plant to get the most bang for your buck?

Tomatoes, bush green beans, and pepper plants produce lots of food in a small space. Store bought price is higher.

The nice thing about the tomat, peppers and beans, is that you can container grow tHem! They are fairly easy! Best part, if you have an abundance, you can blanch and freeze for either soups or stews in the future.

Many vegetables love to be trellised. My neighbor had a 5 foot tall tomato cage, thanks to mushroom soil and a green thumb. Google trellising vegetable garden and there are lots of DIY suggestions.

I do square foot gardening in my beds, literally use twine and mark out one foot squares. I plant one tomato per square. Peppers and green beans can be four to a square. I use tomato cages to reign in my peas with about 8 plants to a square. The suggested trellis works too. I also use tomato cages with my cucumbers, one to a square. The best bang for the buck depends on what you like most. I think that tomatoes are a great deal. We eat snap peas like candy on a vine and cukes tend to be very prolific. So there ya go. Oh, and consider strawberries; just remember to clip the runners that make more plants until you've gotten all the berries. Then let them go to town making babies. You'll have plants to give away.
