I always love an easy paint project, especially when I have all of the materials on hand & don’t have to purchase anything. This project did not take me very long & made me fall I love with my office space again!

This was the before picture when my office desk was a blue/green colour from when I had painted it before. This colour is no longer my favourite so I decided to change it up.

These are all of the items I used that I had on hand and decided to use (plus a small paint roller).

I gave the desk a quick wipe down just to remove any dust (a lint free rag works well for this) and then I removed the hardware.

I also removed the drawer to make it easier to paint both the drawer and area around it. I don’t normally tape things off but that is something you can always do to ensure clean paint lines.

Progress picture after one coat.. I gave the desk about 2 hours of dry time in between coats to ensure everything was dry.

While I waited for the bottom half of the desk to dry I tackled the top. This small spot had ink bleeding through. I applied 1 overall coat of primer on the top & then 5 coats of primer on this specific ink spot.

I then painted the top with two coats of white chalk paint using the roller (except around the edges). When using the roller I made sure to make long rolls all in the same direction.

Once the white chalk paint was fully dry I applied 2 coats of matte clear coat for protection/durability. This is my favourite topcoat - no yellowing!

I then put the hardware back on the desk & decided to reuse the same hardware as the black really popped on the grey colour!

This is the finished project!! I love how it turned out & changed the feel of my office space. It feels a lot lighter & brighter!

This is beautiful. I have a desk that was going to the dump. Although its oak color, could i transform it and paint it white. Also, did you cover the chair?
