Andrea from Crossroad Creations used Cranberry Sauce, Rocky Mountain, and Graphite Glaze to add a bold pop of color and intrigue to this funky desk. What do you think!?
We found this funky piece of furniture at an auction, and we weren’t even exactly sure what it was at first! It must have been converted into a desk at one time, with an area cut out below to have room for the chair. We thought this was pretty quirky and instead of changing it, we decided to go with it!
We chose the colour Cranberry Sauce for this piece, which is a really beautiful shade of red. The drawer and the area below were accented with Rocky Mountain. After the paint had been allowed to dry for a full 24 hours, we wanted to unify the two colours of paint a little more and decided to use the Graphite glaze to achieve this.
The glaze was applied more heavily than we normally do, just to achieve a really different look. The glaze was applied and then we let it sit for a few minutes before taking a damp cloth and gently wiping away some of the excess. It helps to stand up and take a few steps back as you are blending the glaze in order to make sure that you are applying it evenly.
I am so happy with how this piece turned out, it really is bold and unique. I was able to finally use these funky drawer pulls I had found at a yard sale over a year ago! I have always been a little nervous about painting pieces red, but I must say, now I am hooked!
