GLAM DESK: Adding Moulds & Stamps to Furniture

This glam, whimsy desk re-design involves adding furniture stamps, making custom moulds and painting my favorite colors! In all honesty it was not difficult at all! And I promise that ANYONE can do this! I will show you step by step how you can do this yourself.
Isn't she gorgeous?
I purchased this desk from a friend who was liquidating her sweet daddy’s estate. She was thrilled to know that I would dress it up and that it would be treasured by my client. It was manufactured by Drexel in the mid 70’s with quality construction! You can see the leather inset top here….which I have painted over others just like this many times without any issues when using the right products!
First, I applied two full coats of my FAVORITE turquoise blue and added white to color in the three panels on the desk top. I used a small brush to cut-in…and then fill in the rest of the space with a larger brush. Again, I applied two full coats. Get my full list of paint products, colors, top coats in my full blog post
I then accented every single “square piece” on the desk with my number TWO favorite paint color….. this gorgeous pink. I wanted to add a little bit of a feminine flair to this glam desk. My client is a baby nursery and children’s room designer….and this desk will be used in her studio. I wanted to appeal to that clientele with a bit of unexpected whimsy. I chose to use these flower and angel silicon moulds. Again my blog post will have all the details!
My signature style is painting with this gold. I USE IT ON EVERY MOST EVERYTHING I PAINT!
I added some black and white striped trim deliciousness! The whimsicality (made up word) of the black and white stripes! I love black and white stripes!!! They anchor! They frame? They accent! They blend! They just rock my world really! It's another element of my signature Tracey's Fancy look ...
In my full blog post, I also show you how to use a brayer and furniture stamps to add even more texture and whimsy.
I hope this glam desk inspires you to dress up your furniture with moulds, stamps and stripes! It is truly unique and GORGEOUS! There are tons more pics on my blog post! Please subscribe to my weekly blog for more furniture inspiration and painting tips!
