This space is great for a dorm, or a teen's bedroom. I actually put ours in the living room. I wanted to make sure that this was an inexpensive project that provided plenty of storage. Our kiddos are still little, but I've been asked how to create a space for older kids and teens, so I decided to design a space that I would of loved at the age.

First, pick a corner & add a desk or table. We found our desk at IKEA & it was the most inexpensive one that they had. A table works just as well.
Hint- Outdoor tables are on clearance during back to school season. I found a small plastic table for my kids' homeschool space and it was 70 percent off. Score!
Next, add some storage. I was able to fit a 6 bin cube storage shelf under our desk. These are trending right now, and they add plenty of storage. Plus, you can find the bins for a pretty good price. You can fit everything from books to clothes in here.
Any space between the shelf and the desk? I used that space to store books and binders.
Don't forget to add a lamp. I found this one at IKEA and it was VERY affordable.
Next, find ways to add more storage. Adding somewhere to put your paperwork and notebooks is key for homework organization. I found these at IKEA. 4 for $1! You could totally make these from cereal boxes, if you wanted to.
Then, add a chalkboard or white board for reminders. I found this one at the craft store and used a coupon. They also have chalkboard wall decals.
After that, add a place for pens and some decor. I added a pen cup, an "S", and a cool clip for reminders.
I also added a placement, and a clipboard. I love clipboards. It makes it easier to do your homework on your bed or on the couch.
You'll need a chair, of course. I went for this fold up chair from IKEA, because it was under $10.
Lastly, I totally recommend these roller carts. They're $25 and they can easily be rolled out of the way (like into a closet)
