yes hometalkers!!! Another desk I've had this one a few weeks I picked it up at goodwill for $50 and I couldn't decide on a color until I had so many compliments on my dresser Redo. Soooooooo I did this in the same color with plain gold hardware. I left the original hardware alone. I cleaned and scrubbed it with TSP.
This project didn't take near as long as most. I normally have some repair to finish on them first. So the longest part on this project was the color, which I explained above why I'm using it again. I scrubbed the entire desk inside and out with TSP, once dried I lightly sanded it to rough it up so my homemade chalk paint would stick to it. The paint I used is the Walmart paint & primer in one and mixed it with calcium carbonate. The paint inside the desk is a sample of BEHR the color is listed below.
Of course cleaned the hardware with the same cleaning solution TSP I bought at lowes.
Once I had the entire piece sanded I started painting. The paint color on the inside of the desk is a sample of BEHR in French country blue. I think these two colors look great together. Painting the inside of the desk was challenging, I ended up using a small craft paint brush from walmart to get in the cubbies and cracks inside. Well worth it though!!!
The only major cost was the desk. I spent a lot more on it than i normally do for any of my pieces.
Suggested materials:
  • 150 grit sandpaper calcium carbonate Walmart paint & primer in one BEHR sample TSP   (Lowes Walmart homedepot)

Looks Great, I just painted mine the same color with the gold hardware. I have not figured out how to remove the keyhole on the door. Do you have any suggestions?
