Home office? What is your budget? What is the size of the office you want to remodel?
I would start by making a list of everything you need and want in this space and setting a budget for both renovations, furniture and decor. Then I would collect photos of your "wish list" items and layout - don't be judgmental, just collect everything that you like.
Next, do a simple floor plan taking your total amount of space into consideration, focusing here on function. Start to eliminate those items that you either can't purchase or won't fit. Then start the project:
-Work on the walls - paper? paint? stencil? accessories (white board, chalk board, bulletin board)?
-Layout your key pieces of furniture based on function (desk, sofa, computer, fax machine, etc) and arrange the other smaller pieces around these
-Accessorize and make the space your own with window treatments, rugs, posters and wall ornaments, etc.
Enjoy your functional and attractive new space!
Hi! Home projects are so much fun especially when you're prepared. Please send us a few snap shots of your office so we have a reference point to share ideas.
When I lay out a room, I use 1/4" graph paper to scale down my floorplan. One square 1/4 inch is equal to one square foot. Once you have the size of your rooms and and door or window placements on paper, it's easier to measure in furniture or cabinets etc.
Good luck and send us some pictures!
I usually find a piece I absolutely love and work around it. This usually dictates the period and style the room becomes. Maybe whimsical or bookish rustic etc
