8 Most Impressive Tiny Houses

We've covered a lot of cool tiny houses on our blog, and today I wanted to share some of my favorites with you.
Above is the "Minim" home, built by Macy Miller, a pioneer in the tiny house community. After a divorce and foreclosure, she had to pretty much start over, and build the home you see above with zero prior experience for just $11k. Quite a remarkable achievement!
Dubbed "The Bird House" this sub-200 square foot retreat was built by a Finnish soldier in his spare time for an estimated $10k. Since it's so small, he didn't need any building permits and wasn't required to adhere to any zoning regulations, something I'm sure a lot of wish we could do.
The "EDGE" house is a prefabricated unit, and absolutely one of my favorite designs. I could picture this is my ski retreat somewhere in the mountains of Tahoe or Wyoming. Built with sustainability in mind, this house has a big kitchen table that actually transforms into a full size bed! Very versatile indeed.
This Japanese style zen retreat was constructed in the middle of a forest and built using 99% reclaimed materials. It's inspiration? The sink you see below, which the owner found at an antique shop and decided he needed to build the house around it. Everything about this home is incredible, filled with detail, and harmonious with its surroundings.
I shared this home previously on Hometalk but wanted to highlight it once more. Built after their original property burnt to the ground by owners who wanted to reclaim the land they once called home. They succeeded, and now live in this tiny house that's half the size of their previous one. It's fully off-grid and they share the space with their two dogs.
This house, known as "Ravenlore" was built by Tiny Green Cabins for a client who wanted to mix her favorite board game Candyland with some Gothic inspired design elements. While the color may not be for everyone, the detail remains impressive.
The "Wee house" is completely off grid and was built by a guy who promised his new wife they'd move out of the home they were sharing with several of his friends. No doubt she's happy to have a place of their own, and what's incredible is that he build this place in just six weeks for about $5k. As a builder by trade, that surely came into play when figuring that cost, and he was very resourceful when it came to finding reclaimed materials to use. There's also no running water or electricity, which means during very cold nights they sometimes retreat to their previous residence, located on the same piece of land.
"The Crib" is another favorite, modeled after traditional American "cob" houses which were used to store corn back in the day. This offgrid retreat is built with green/sustainable practices in mind and uses SIPs panels, rainwater storage, and a small stainless stove for heating and cooking. One of the coolest features is the huge sliding glass garage door that opens to a small deck.
