Craft Room Made of Thrifty Finds

I challenged myself to two things recently: to spend NO money on household decor (which is like telling myself to not breathe). And to clean up our storage area. The end result?? A new, thrifted craft room created entirely with odds and ends furniture and thrifted decor from around the house.

BEFORE / A DARK BEDROOM: The bonus room originally started as a bedroom for our middle teen who visited in the summers and on the weekends. She chose the colors, liked the concrete floor...and before we knew it, she was an adult!

After awhile we realized it wasn't being used as a bedroom very often...so it started to evolve into a rough version of a craft room with plans to ocassionally use it as a brighter and cheerier guest bedroom.

FLOOR AFTER. This floor is "second hand" and repurposed from our first floor. We relocated / repurposed the floating laminate here after we updated our first floor with Pergo.

PRIMING THE WALLS: No more blue!

MOOD BOARD: I was a little lost on how I wanted this room to come together...so I created this mood board (which I also do for clients).

AFTER: Decluttering the rest of my house is what created THIS room. While I didn't buy new items -- I did capture my vision using items I had in storage in our basement. So technically, I had already "shopped" I just needed to style my existing decor, declutter other rooms and pull things out of storage.

AFTER: The room is largely made up of extraneous furniture I had acquired and have planned to repurpose or finish.

AFTER: Can you believe I had all of this in storage and just didn't know what to do with it! After two days of working with the space, it actually looked like it was meant to be. Sometimes a pile of "stuff" can look like a million bucks when you really focus on pulling it all together.

My favorite part of the room was using my kids' repurposed crib springs, and showcasing this botanical art.

I love, love, love the bed springs. Were they already black or did you spray paint. I knew there was a reason I haven't tossed my kids old cribs, lol
    • Thank you! They were already this way...and if they were rusty I would have just kept them that way....funny none of the art that I purchased ever looked quite right...repurposing wins in this case! :)
