I have a Single Wide Mobile Home (it's my cabin), was built in 2005 I am the 2nd owner. This is home for me, I am so comfortable and have it on a great piece of land. I want to do updates and I just wanted to see if there were any other Single Wide owners with some upgrade tips and tricks?

Fact, a mobile home will retain better value sitting it's own property than sitting in a park.

You can cover the ceiling with Styrofoam glue up ceiling tiles - best price I've found is at antiqueceilings.net. Lowe's has some great textured paibtable wallpaper you can use to cover the walls and/or cabinets. The beadboard paper is great for a cottage/farmhouse-style look; especially combined with the tumbled stone style. Check pinterest for inexpensive ways to redo countertopa or buy the butcher block counters from ikea.

We purchased a used mobile last year. We put a metal roof over the singles. It is super quiet and will need no maintenance for years. Since it is on a lake , we put in laminate floors to help with keeping it clean.

We live in an 1995 mobile home on 8 acres of woods that we have completely redone as we do not want another mortgage. We added a metal roof which really cut down on heating and cooling, put in double hung, double pane windows and added siding. We are in the process of gutting and redoing the inside room by room adding wood flooring, redoing closets, ec10t. Great thing about trailers is there are no load bearing walls and you can easily recreate spaces.

@Renata We asked. But unfortunately once a trailer always a trailer.

We live in a double wide mobile home on 5 acres, we replaced all flooring inside, you can paint walls, even over the "vinyl wallpapered" ones. My husband just finished a beautiful red room off my kitchen, can't wait for the kitchen to be painted. We have a large 3 level deck on back with part of it has a roof on it. Also skirted in bricks and we have a new steel roof, but it is still a work in process.

Your mobile home is very nice, I would do things as needed, It probably needs updating but if you are going to live in it forever you have plenty of time!! We have done renovation on our home and the key is not to get overwhelmed

Keeping up requires lots of money and stress! You are blessed to have a nice home with low expenses! I've lived in two mobile homes and enjoyed them. I've now retired and downsized! Less stress! More time for JOY!

If we had known more about "mobile homes" before purchasing we would have "RUN THE OTHER DIRECTION"!!! Nothing but "PROBLEMS" since the first day of move in. ~ POOR WORKMANSHIP BY THE MANUFACTER!! ~~ They have had to completely "REBUILD" the mobile home and the "EVERYTHING IS STILL OUT OF SQUARE"!!! ~ Also, know that your "MOBILE HOME INSURANCE POLICY" will "NOT, AND I REPEAT NOT" pay for anything regarding "POOR WORKMANSHIP"!!! ~~ Good Luck on whatever you try and improve on yours!!!

Since container homes are all the rage, you might want to check out some pics to see how they utilize space, indoors and out. With such beautiful property, I would add a long porch under that metal roof others suggested. Lots of room to relax and entertain! Congrats on your home and acreage! You are one step ahead of lots of people! Post pics as you make changes!
