Neutral colors that reflect the style of your neighborhood is always the best way. Find a few houses similar to your own on your street and stay within the palette they've used.

it would be lovely to plant flower beds on either side of your walkway.

Try light grey (heather) and a bright red door, shutters too. Any dark color with a light color door. Homedepot or Lowe's paint department has many different paints for outdoors. Check out the samples. Put the house color next to the door color and see how it looks. You can take as many samples as you like, but make sure their for outdoors. You can pick a color that is indoor and they could make it for outdoors. They start with white paint, and add the color to the paint. The (tint). You might need a primer to be added to the paint, ask who ever helps you, if you need it. Good Luck!

P.S. paint the railings black, no matter what color you choose.

Ive seen some paint store brochures that color coordinate the exterior color options. This might help you decide what you like -utilizing three different colors for siding, shutters and door. Landscaping gives nice street appeal too.

You don't necessarily have to paint the whole house, but do paint those shutters. I would paint them a charcoal(less jarring than black & still goes with the roof). There is nothing to draw one in to the door, I would paint the door a dark red, pulling from the brick chimney. Your door is also unbalanced visually: too much going on on the left side & nothing on the right. A hanging planter or a large lamp would be helpfull to add to that right side. The front lamp(or at least I think that is a lamppost), I would move it to the right front corner. Widen the walkway to the left side of the steps, to bring better balance. I would also place a foundation planting of various shrubs under the front windows to soften the lines. I would dig up that odd strip of grass at the edge of the drive & plant it. Perhaps add a stump & use as a raised planter or a tall planter in the center of the planting. On the left side of the house I would put in an arbour flanked by some shade loving shrubs to break up the bowling alley view to the back

  • I agree with Vimarhonor. Use the tools available at a paint store. Maybe a medium gray on the house, dark gray on the shutters, and a bright blue or aqua on the door? I would add a couple warm wood tone window boxes to the lower windows and some flowers and slow growing shrubs to the flower bed.

Search google for "free landscape design software". Upload your photo and try out what you like! Here's a link that goes over the pros and cons of several free programs: https://everythingbackyard.net/free-landscape-design-software-top-8-choices/

It needs color on the shutters, and a different, welcoming color on the front door. Planting around the house will help soften the look. Maybe in large colorful pots. You need to choose colors you are happy with. If the white paint on the house is in good condition, I'd leave it and I'd choose blue/grey paint for the shutters along with a red door as you have a grey roof.

Walk across the street, turn around, and take a picture of your house. While still across the street (or down the road, whatever) start making a list of things that are attractive, unattractive, distracting, shabby, faded, your favorite parts—whatever catches your eye. If you think you are house-blind, get a friend out there to help you look at your place with fresh eyes. With that list is where you start choosing small, immediate steps and prioritizing the big steps. If nothing else, find a real estate agent to help you decide. Sign no contracts, just get opinions. If you can post one or more photos of the curb view of your house, I’m sure many Hometalkers will be glad to give you our opinions. Best wishes 😇🍁

I think a clean crisp white would look great. Dark shutters and a dark front door would really make the house pop. You could also paint the brick stairs and cement slab the same color to match. A dark navy would look great.
