How do you install wainscot or batten and board around baseboard heat?

I want a finished, professional look to my wall, but the baseboard heating protrudes from  the bottom of the wall.

The best way would be uninstall baseboard heating and reinstall after wainscot has been installed and finished.

Question for you why would you want to do that. In my opinion adding molding to base board will just make it stand out more. I dont understand why you would even consider this unless you are trying to conceal something???

You could either cut the wainscot to fit around the baseboard heater or remove the unit, install the wainscot and then replace the unit.

If you want a 'a finished, professional look', hire a professional. It really should not cost that much to have it done right. The unit should be taken out, possibly changed out or boxed in as it seems it is obtrusive as it is.

that's what I would do also remove the baseboard heating apply the wainscoting then reapply the heaters

You could step the wainscot or board and batten off the wall where the baseboard heaters would be flush with the wainscot, bonus you would have a ledge around the room to put pictures on.
