The house needs color. On my monitor, it appears to be pale grey with white trim and doors. I would paint the garage a cheerful color. What is your favorite color? I think a bright cobalt blue, a scarlet red or a sunshiny yellow would all look great with the existing color scheme. The expanse of grey between the upper story windows and the garage is the perfect place to add an accent. Friends of ours who had a similar expanse added an outdoor wreath with a giant bow that matched the color of their door. Once you pick a color scheme, I would create a flower bed on the slope to add a trio of flowering bushes. I recommend picking three bushes that flower at different times so that you have color continuously.

It needs some paint to help it stand out. Do you want the house to blend into the trees or stand out?

I couldn't tell if the driveway was concrete or black top. If it is concrete it needs a cleaning. Concrete may also be stained. I would also line the driveway w/some low maintenance shrubs or grasses. I am a fan of Garage Door hardware and I have the carriage house type metal straps---found them on-line and recently I saw magnetic garage door hardware. Also, like another Home Talker suggested----a piece of decorative metal might suit your taste to break up the large expanse of off-white on the side of the house and I would center it strategically down below the two windows. I like your metal roof. Just a few things I have done to homes in the past to spruce them up. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for your help! The driveway is asphalt but looks dirty in this pic. The metal roof is a colonial blue.

A pergola style trellis over the garage would continue the look from left to right... some planter boxes on the railings would add color too. and window boxes on the 2 windows

You need contrast - a dark paint for the garage and front door and the trim. Adding shutters painted the same contrasting color would also look great. If you do install shutters, you may want to paint the garage door and shutters one color (Black? Navy? Dark Grey?) and the front door a bright red or burnt orange. What a lovely house!

Your windows look small on such a large wall. Have you thought about shutters, painted a bright color of your choosing? If you paint the garage door it will make the house look like all garage so I suggest a very large metal hanging of some kind instead. One that will withstand the weather and not rust. A few large pots with brightly colored plants would like nice on your deck.

Some ideas: painting the house a deeper blue or medium gray for greater contrast, adding decorative molding(white) above the garage door or above the regular door, or adding a small trellis around the garage door to draw the eye there, adding the barn style metal pieces on the garage, adding some shutters that would then match the garage door metal pieces(see pictures), definitely some bushes/flowers in the front yard/along the driveway, adding a stone surround around the mailbox, and adding a decorative piece in the large space between the garage door and the windows!

Thanks so much! I have the trellis saved on my Pinterest and I was thinking about adding windows to the garage door and the metal hardware. We have been trying to determine if there was enough space between the windows for shutters. The roof is a blue metal....

If you lived in Texas, I would suggest a huge Lone Star centered below the upper windows. Is there a symbol that adds immediate identity to your family, neighborhood, or state? If not, I would add not only black or bright shutters, but a one or more board horizontal divider between the storeys. ☺️

I love colonial blue. That might look nice on your trim??

I personally would add a darker color or brick to the upper portion, to give it decorative look and decorative trim around upper windows then add window boxes to all the window. Paint the garages doors add fake windows and decorative hardware and these come in a kit. Paint front door and add a urn with spiral tree to the right of the garage door. The deck front bottom I would close that in and add fake looking doors and add colorful landscaping.
