Need help decorating open concept house...

We just moved to our first home. I do love the open concept but find it very challenging to decorate, not much space on the walls for pictures or anything. The pictures show the living room and kitchen. Our eating area is in the same space with the kitchen. I don't like the cabinet color and want to paint them white. What would you buy, get rid of, move, paint in order to decorate the space and make it look beautiful and uniform throughout the house? Can't think of anything. Please help!!!
This is what you see when you enter the house.
Want to buy a love seat in a light color for this side
The only available wall in the area. Need to get a bigger tv stand.
Front door
Want to paint cabinets white and get a kitchen island.

What a fun house with a lot of potential!! Some thoughts:

    1. When you enter the house, what you see - could you put some sort of vertical indoor herb garden on the thin wall that separates the kitchen and the other room? I think that something warm there - like plants would be really nice and welcoming. I like this one, for example, but there are a ton of options: https://www.hometalk.com/diy/grow/diy-mason-jar-indoor-herb-garden-17279194

    2. What are you thinking in terms of flooring? My first thought is that hardwood floors would be amazing...

It's such a personal preference - I really like the idea of hardwood flooring in an open concept house because I feel like it's great for all rooms - looks wonderful when you enter, but it's also 'cozy' enough for your living space, and not a pain to clean in a dining area!

    Cute starter home!! How exciting!!

What's behind that love seat? Is it a half wall that you could turn into a breakfast bar?

Yes, it's a half wall. That' anothet good option. Thanks!!

Yes. It's a half wall. Do you think the breakfast bar would look better than the kitchen island?

I vote for the breakfast bar! I feel like it's a better way to maximize space.
