updated and neutral kitchens and baths, with lots of storage but you should probably talk to a realtor in your area for the best opinion.
I agree with Elizabeth, Lynn. I suspect a realtor will also tell you that an updated kitchen and bathrooms are essential in getting the most you can. Curb appeal, etc. is so important. Definitely contact a realtor.
are you in the process of putting the house up for sale?
As a former real estate broker. Kitchen is #1. People spend more time in the kitchen. Its become a gathering for family and friends. Bathrooms are second. Paint , new fixtures, fresh lighting. People want a spa like feeling.
The first thing is to declutter, depersonalize and clean then decide how much you want to spend to update your house. Kitchens and bathrooms remodeling can get pricey.
first impressions are important. If they are turned off when they drive up they may just keep going. Curb appeal is a great way to catch their attention and "invite them " to take a look inside. A fresh coat of paint is something you can do without having to hire someone. Just keep in mind, keep your color pallet neutral. Light grays, light tans the key word being light. If you have strong colored walls the buyer might be overwhelmed if their furniture colors are going to fight with the wall colors and that means they would be facing painting the inside rooms. Just something to consider as you start. hope that will get you started without your upgrades costing so much. Best of luck!
I'm married to a realtor/property manager and refreshed cabinets, updated flooring and modern, neutral paint are easy changes. I used Rustoleums cabinet transformation, it was easy and fabulous transformation. Make sure the bathrooms are clean, refreshed and as spa like as possible.
I work for a real estate agent and I agree with everyone else -- updated kitchen and bathrooms. If you can only do one of those, choose the kitchen. If you're on a tight budget, painting outdated cabinets and installing new hardware can do wonders, but be sure the paint job looks professional.
The 2 other important factors -- curb appeal (nice neat yard, flowers blooming, clean porch, sidewalk, and driveway) and a clean, decluttered house.
