DIY Stenciled Tile Backsplash in Our Pantry

Our walk-in pantry was very white with white walls, white woodwork, and white walls. I have been thinking about adding a cement tile backsplash but didn't want to deal with the expense, mess, and work. Plus, I was afraid that I would tire of the look quickly and then would have to deal with the expense and mess of removing it. Then I got the great idea to stencil a faux backsplash, and I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. I have the look I wanted with no mess, and it cost less than $25.00. I used three colors of acrylic craft paint to achieve a more interesting and realistic look. I bought a stencil online. When applying the paint, I taped over the parts that I was saving for another color. I saved the corner for last so I could cut the stencil to just the size I needed.

This is the way the wall looked before I started the project. You can see that it needed the addition of some color.

The nice thing about stenciling is that the little mistakes don't show up. It's the overall effect that is the showstopper. However, if something bothers you, you can't always go back and touch up your completed project with a tiny paint brush. That's what I did, and it worked just fine.

Looking in from the kitchen, I can enjoy the faux tile. From a few feet back, the wall looks like real tiles. This was an easy project that cost less than $25.00

Loved the pans. Great way to have them handy for use without filling a cupboard when space is at a premium.

Thank you. I have several old copper pots hanging on another wall in the pantry. They make me smile.
