How To Use Unique Colors In Your Kitchen

AK recently had to opportunity to interview Kim Lewis, a talented designer from ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. We talked with Kim about ways to incorporate unique or bold colors into a kitchen in practical and classic ways that won't date the space. Some of Kim's advice was to bring your unique color choice into your space with accessories (linen napkins, vases, etc) and also with paint!
Kim's wish for consumers is to "start having more fun with color in their own home!" You can read our full interview with Kim on our blog:
(Interior Design By: Eva Zellmer and Veronica Valencia) ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, designed this kitchen for an all girls home. They used the "Pink Love" Silestone countertop on the island as the focal point for the kitchen. The rest of the space is more neutral in tone.

Years ago I moved into a rental house with dingy white kitchen walls..I was broke, no money for paint, when I found a gallon of bubble gum pink paint..With no other options, I painted the kitchen walls pink! I've got to say, I fell in love with my warm, cozy, cheery pink kitchen...Never say never!

I love this look, very retro with black. I wish it had been tiled floor from that time period. Other than that I saw awesome. It's time express yourself in your house it's your space and you should enjoy it everyday you walk through the door. I'm getting ready to have living and dining room organic green and white trim. Then I want orange in the kitchen but not to much. Family room is connected seen by kite but I haven't decided yet on a color leaning towards yellow. I like citrus apparently. Never had the chance to express me, always worried about others now at my age it hit me, surround yourself with what you love others don't live there. So all you out there go for it.
