Farmhouse Kitchen Project - White Cabinets

I have been on a mission to update my kitchen.. farmhouse style.

I started out with a lot of wood tones in my kitchen, so I
I decided to come up with a backsplash for it.
However I couldn't find one that looked like what I was really wanting,
so I came up with a way to make it and I added a fun faux barnwood backsplash.

(it is in my other projects if interested in seeing more about the backsplash)

Here is my kitchen after adding my new backsplash and several fun
farmhouse accent pieces.

However I have always liked a white kitchen, and after a LOT of going back and forth with the decision to paint. icon
I finally made the decision I would paint one cabinet to see what
I thought.
We have a single cabinet on the other side of our stove
so it was the obvious choice.
(My thinking was it would be much easier to change one cabinet if I
didn't like the result for some reason)
So I removed the door/drawer and I used a good cleaner to clean the surfaces.
Then I used a deglosser and green scrub pad and some elbow grease,
to scrub the surfaces and get the gloss off. icon
(This is suppose to replace having to sand them)

Then I wiped all the surfaces down, and using a soft paintbrush and a foam roller I gave it a coat of stainblocker and let that dry.

Because the stainblocker takes time to cure, I went ahead and placed the drawer/door back onto the cabinet so they weren't in the way, and I also chose to add bead board to the end of the cabinet for an extra farmhouse touch.

After the cure time I was finally able to start painting.
(I chose to do the inside of the doors as well as the outside.)
I was very happy with the result,
and I started on the rest of the kitchen.
Here is an example of a door with one coat of paint
(let dry between coats), as well as 2 coats of paint,
and then the end result which was actually 3-4 coats of paint which
is what I preferred.
It took some time, patience (due to the cure time of the stainblocker),
as well as the kitchen being out of sorts for a while, icon
and honestly it was quite a bit of work and I did it a little at a time,
but I think it was so worth it.

I am so happy that I finally chose to paint the cabinets.

Now I am debating on paint colors for my walls, rug ideas, etc.

(In my search for info on painting cabinets basically I found there are many methods to painting cabinets, and a lot of products out there.
And a lot of different results: wood grain showing/wood grain not showing, distressed, glazed, and so on..
Personally, I would recommend talking to a paint professional, searching/reading reviews etc. and getting as much info as you can)
