I thrifted this chest of drawers and while it had great bones it needed some love.

Best paint primer!

The entire piece had been scratched up. Veneer was missing in places and I had to use bondo near the bottom from

missing veneer.

Once I gave it a good cleaning I began to sand all the scratches out. I had to sand the entire top down and all the drawers. This sander is affordable and I recommend it.

I used BIN primer after the entire piece was sanded and a tack cloth removed the extra dust.

I was afraid this piece would bleed and BIN primer is shellac based and helps seal in the tannins of the wood. I used two coats of primer letting in dry in between.

I had never used this color before but I went with Melange paints in Copperhead Orange. It’s a beautiful color!

I have a hard time painting anything just one color so I decide to stencil the top two drawers. This is an adhesive stencil I found at Michaels.

I love the pattern and used a soft muted salmon color with the stencil. While stenciling takes time it’s so rewarding once it’s done.

I sprayed the hardware a metallic gold and sealed the entire piece with Wise Owl

Salve.

I dry brushed the same color of the stencil here and there just because I’m extra.

And here she is all finished up and ready for its new home.
